ChargeZone is India's fastest-growing EV charging network, operating at the front line of the country's electric mobility transition. With charging points across the country and a partner ecosystem connecting users to a wider grid of stations, ChargeZone is building both the infrastructure and the consumer experience that the next decade of Indian EV adoption depends on.

When ChargeZone engaged Tequity, the network was scaling rapidly, the mobile app was the primary consumer touchpoint, and every percentage point of conversion on charging journeys translated directly into revenue and user retention.

The Challenge

ChargeZone faced the classic tension between scale and quality of experience:

  • A booking flow that was too long: The existing journey from app open to active charging session ran across 7 steps, with measurable drop-off at every transition.
  • Limited data infrastructure for marketing and product: Without a clean event/metrics layer, the team was making product and marketing decisions without behavioral data.
  • Lack of a consumer loyalty engine: Charging is high frequency and habitual, but ChargeZone had no structured way to reward repeat behavior.
  • Operational support load: As the network grew, customer queries on charging, payment, and station discovery were growing faster than the ops team could absorb.

Solution Implemented by Tequity

Tequity owns end-to-end product, design, and engineering for the ChargeZone consumer mobile app and the supporting backend. Major workstreams:

Booking Flow Redesign (ChargeNow): Tequity led a ground-up redesign of the core charging journey, cutting it from 7 steps to 4. The new flow was launched as an A/B experiment, delivering a 12-15% lift in booking conversion, and was rolled out to all users.

Discovery and Search: Filter redesigns, recommended station lists, search-by-station, and the ability to switch between station and location-based search were shipped to make finding the right charge point faster.

ChargeClub - India's First EV Charging Loyalty Program: Tequity designed and built ChargeClub, including ChargeCoin earning and burning logic, session-based cashback engines, wallet top-up offers, and station-level discounting capability. ChargeClub launched on September 1st, 2025.

Marketing Stack: Singular integration was implemented for acquisition tracking and attribution. CleverTap events were stabilized so the marketing team could finally run data-driven campaigns.

AI Multi-Agent Customer Operations: Tequity designed and implemented a multi-layer AI architecture on WhatsApp:

  • A stateless, horizontally scalable orchestrator service backed by Redis as the shared context store, capable of scaling to tens of thousands of concurrent sessions.
  • Discovery and Session Agents that understand intent, enrich context, and respond using LLMs and tools.
  • Architectural redesign of charging events to stream through Kafka.
  • Observability and evals across all agents using LangSmith and New Relic.

Performance and Stability: Continuous backend and frontend performance optimization, alerts based on criticality, anomaly detection on charging vehicles via PubNub, and ongoing bug-fix cycles.
